They started building a house next door to ours. Grant has a bird's eye view from his bedroom window. He spends a lot of his time right here now. What more could a boy ask for?

Vacation to Mars

The 3rd Grade put on a play called "Vacation to Mars." Whitney had a role of Tour Guide. She had a part through out the entire play. She did a great job. The whole play was very well done. Grandma & Grandpa Ashby and Grandma & Grandpa Roberts were both able to come watch her. Dad missed out because he was in Detroit. We recorded it for him so he could watch it later.

Lindsey lost her first tooth on Thursday. She was very excited to finally have lost a tooth.

Grandpa Hansen 1914 - 2011

Divett Hansen Glenwood, Utah Isaac Divett Hansen, 96, passed away February 18, 2011 in Salt Lake City. He was born June 18, 1914, Salt Lake City, to Isaac Stewart and Sophia Kristine Sorensen Hansen. He married his sweetheart, Madge Christiansen June 13, 1941 in the Manti LDS Temple. She died November 30, 2005. He lived his entire life in Glenwood and built his home just a few feet from the one in which he was raised. Divett was an active member of the LDS Church having served in many callings including Bishop, High Priest Group Leader, Elders Quorum President, Financial Clerk, scouting and was a faithful home teacher. He loved temple work and served several years in the extraction program. He loved to farm, fish, and hunt. He found much joy in caring for his beautiful yard and garden. He retired in 1979 after working for many years at Tri-State Lumber/ Valley Builders. He was also on the Glenwood Town Board for ten years. Divett is survived by his children: Rhea Dawn (Ron) Olcott, Hurricane; Peggy (Kent) Swallow, Flowell; Kenley (Ann) Hansen, Orem; Connie (Randy) Peterson, Blythe, CA; Loralee (Russ) Roberts, Lehi, 23 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Loree (Rulon) Thurston and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 26, 11:00 a.m. in the Glenwood Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary Friday evening from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. and Saturday at the ward chapel from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Glenwood City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.

Valentine's Day

We had a Valentines Party at our house for our Ashby cousins. I forgot to take any pictures until the very end. I thought this picture of Taft and Julia was very cute.

28 Day Sugar Rehab

Aaron and I are in a 28 day sugar rehabilitation program. We aren't going to eat sugary foods for the next 4 weeks in an attempt to break the bad habits. We just finished our first week, and so far so good. There were many temptations this week, but we survived. In primary today we talked about ways to avoid temptation. The first idea is to DECIDE before the temptation occurs that you aren't going to do it. Second is to PRAY for help to avoid temptation. Third is to LISTEN to the Holy Ghost. I realized how this is very much like the process that Aaron and I are going through. We decided that we wouldn't eat sugar (we even pinkie swore.) This made it easier when we were at my mom's and there were several yummy looking treats there. Since we had already decided we wouldn't, it was easier to not eat it. I have been praying for help to be more healthy and eat less sugar. Now I just have to make it through Valentine's Day!

One of our new healthy discoveries is Bountiful Baskets. This is a food co-op that we get fruits and vegetables from. I love this. We always have fresh veggies & fruit around the house to snack on. Below is a picture from Saturday's pickup of food. What is most amazing to me is that something like this exists and I had never heard of it. Standing in the gym of a elementary school with a couple of hundred people to pick up food and realizing that there are hundreds of sites all around doing the same thing leads me to wonder. . . . Why did no one ever tell me about this before?

Chinese New Year Program

Grant's preschool had a Chinese New Year program. Dad got to go watch Grant sing some songs about the Chinese New Year. They also had a dragon parade.

Chef Whitney

Whitney has been begging me lately to let her cook something. She really wants to learn how to cook. Friday I let her make some cookies. The only recipe that I had all the ingredients for was Snickerdoodles. I supervised the process and put the cookies in and out of the oven. Everything else Whitney did all by herself. She did a great job. The cookies tasted perfect! Now she wants to move on to learning how to cook dinner.
