Pumpkin Carving

We don't usually carve pumpkins at Halloween. Now I remember why that is - gross! And what a mess. Guess it is all about the fun and family time - maybe? We did have fun, so I guess the mess was worth it. Poor Cassidy was sick, so she didn't get to participate much. She did try gutting hers for a little while, then decided she would let us finish for her. How sweet.

Fall Break - Bosa Donuts

Rob made sure we were introduced to Bosa Donuts while we were there. They were so good, that they get their own post. Just looking at this picture makes me crave one of those Buttermilk Balls. So Good!

Fall Break - Kitch Cousins

We had dinner with Aaron's cousins on the Kitch side. We don't get to see these guys very often so it was fun to catch up and eat some pizza.

Fall Break/Halloween

We went to the Peterson's Ward Halloween party. It was fun to meet some of their friends and eat some yummy food.

I didn't take any pictures of the kids on Halloween, so this is as good as it gets. Grant wore his Batman PJ's as a costume, because his furry dinosaur costume wasn't really appropriate for the 95 degree weather. I never took a picture of him in the costume - but he looked cute.

For Halloween this year we had Whitney aka Cleopatra, Cassidy the Snow Princess, Lindsey the Angel, and Grant the dinosaur and Batman.

Fall Break - Swimming

We had fun playing in their pool. It was 95 degrees there - which for us, was very hot. The Peterson kids were freezing in the pool, but they were troopers and swam with our kids anyway. They have a great backyard.

Fall Break - Phoenix Zoo

For Fall Break this year we headed down to Arizona and stayed with our friends the Petersons. Tamsen and I were roommates for a few years in college and then Tamsen and Rob moved one street over from us. They moved to Arizona two years ago and we missed them so much we invaded their house for a few days.

While we were there we went to the Phoenix Zoo. This zoo puts our little Hogle Zoo to shame - not that it's hard.
They had a a fun "Little People" play place.

They had a petting farm area

This is a howler monkey - just like the pet monkey that Aaron had on his mission.

They had a fish tank with huge fish in it. You have to look closely to see the fish.

The zebra were a huge hit also.

Stake Day of Service

Our Aaron, Whitney, Cassidy and I all got to participate in our Stake Day of Service. We went up to the Legacy Nature Preserve and picked Thistle along the Jordan River. It was a great experience for us to teach our children the importance of being involved in the community. The pictures of Cassidy show you how much she enjoyed this. :)

Whitney #10 Birthday

We held my dad's funeral on Friday since Whitney's birthday was on Saturday and Tyson's birthday was on Sunday. We didn't want to ruin their birthday's forever because of the funeral. As hard as it was to wake up the day after the funeral and put on a happy face for my daughter, it was really good. It forced me back into reality and the fact that life goes on.

Whitney invited cousin Makayla over for a Slumber Party on Saturday. Luckily Whitney has an awesome dad that helped her make this cool video invite. (The video was made before my dad died, so we had to change a few things around.)

We started off going to Clair's and getting Whitney's ears pierced. I make my girls wait until they are 10. Whitney was very excited. I think it hurt more than she thought it would. But she did a great job. We stopped at Aeropostle on our way home and she picked out two new shirts for her birthday. (Yeah, didn't have time to buy her presents)

Whitney and Makayla

Whitney (& Makayla) even made her own Birthday Cupcakes!

We can't forget flowers from Dad.

Happy Birthday Whitney! We love you.

Neighborhood Fun Run

We had a neighborhood fun run. They ran a loop around the whole neighborhood. They all did such a great job. Very proud of all of them.

In our family, Lindsey came running in first.

Followed by Cassidy, then Whitney. (Whitney woke up sick that morning, so she walked most of it.)

Grant and Dad came in next. Grant did such a great job!

Back to School

The first day of school was a pretty rough day. (My dad died later this night.) I made sure that I was there that morning to see the girls off. I even managed to snap a picture of them before they left. They are all loving school and their teachers.

Grant started school at the beginning of August. I'm just a little behind. He is loving school and his little buddy Luke.
