Swimmin' & Cousins - Summer Week 3

We finally made it to the J.L. Sorensen Recreation Center this week. My children think that they are the only kids in all of Herriman who had not been there. They are so deprived! We had a lot of fun, especially when Cassidy ran into her BFF Gaby. After about an hour I realized that they didn't need me in the water with them. It made it even more fun for me to sit and watch them.

From Wednesday to Saturday we had Makayla and Kaylin come stay at our house. Heidi and Laine were "Parents" during Youth Conference and had to ship their kids off to various locations. Since M & K were still in school, they came here. We didn't see much of Makayla, she had a soccer tournament that kept her busy. They did get to spend some time with us. We went over to our pool twice and they had a big slumber party on one night. They also wrote this song together: The Justin Beiber haters theme song. I am going to try and record them singing it next time they are together. It was very entertaining! :)

The Justin Beiber Haters Theme Song:
Justin Beiber This Ones For You
I hate to hear you sing, it sounds like chickens in a ring

Justin Beiber This Ones For You
Oh you have a weird voice, it sounds like snakes rattling toys in a room full of
Baby, Baby, Baby dolls!

Justin Beiber This Ones For You
You have terrible vocal chords, I'd rather hear you hammering boards.
Justin Beiber we hate you.

The Farm - Summer Week 2

We went to the Thanksgiving Point Farm during "Dairy Days." Had I known it was Dairy Days, I wouldn't have gone, but I am glad we did. Despite the masses, we had a lot of fun. They got to make their own ice cream in a bag, go on a cow train ride, ring toss, knocking down towers of bottles, get popsicles, chocolate milk, a coloring book, and a coloring contest. Don't forget the normal animals and pony ride (which we stood in line for 45 minutes for.)

Hollywood Connection - Summer Week 1

We had some passes to Hollywood Connection. Dad took a day off of work and we all went. We had a great time. My kids are all old enough now that we didn't have to have someone sitting out, we all got to experience the rides. I haven't been that dizzy in a long time!

Braces are done!

Whitney is finally done with her braces - well Phase 1 anyway. Hopefully they stay put and we don't have to do a Phase 2. It was only supposed to be a one year process, but it took us almost two years. A lot of things to fix, like a cross bite, expanding and straightening.

Whitney when she first got the braces on, right before her 8th birthday.

This is her right before she got the braces off.

While she was getting them off. (I couldn't resist!)

Whitney with her beautiful new smile.

Summer Fun

I told the kids that we would try to do at least one fun things each week of summer. It is just enough that they have something to look forward to, and don't get too bored. Hopefully we can come up with stuff to do that doesn't cost a lot of money!

They also have their summer jobs that we started up again. I have given each of them their own folder. Inside the folder they have a page with their "Jobs" and they have a "Personal" page. The jobs include cleaning room, dishes, bathrooms, floors etc. The personal includes brushing teeth, reading 20 minutes, exercise, a learning page (rotates between math worksheet, handwriting worksheet, practice typing, write a letter to someone or writing in their journal), they have to set a goal each week of something they want to work on i.e. learning to ride a bike, practicing volleyball, cartwheels, soccer etc. Hopefully this gives them lots of things they can do each day so they aren't completely bored this summer.

Big Wheel and Scooter Makeover

Back in November we painted Grant's big wheel. I couldn't find a blog post about it. I must have just posted it on Facebook. Better late than never.

Since we had success with the big wheel, I thought I would give it a try with the scooter. I wish I would have taken a before picture, but can't seem to find one. It used to be a pink and purple princess scooter with a basket. It is not the best paint job, but as least my boy isn't riding a girly scooter anymore - and I didn't have to buy a new one. :)

Zoo Day

Lindsey's Kindergarten field trip to the zoo was on Grant's birthday. I decided it would be a fun way to spend Grant's birthday so we joined them. Our group had 4 adults and 5 Kindergartners. Not too difficult of a group to control. Especially since they were all BFFs. My pictures are all from my phone, so not that great of quality. It was a rainy day so I didn't want to bring my camera and have it get wet.

This is Lindsey and her BFFs Ali and Brecken.

We love the giraffes at our house.

The new dino world at the zoo is a fun addition.

Don't tell Lindsey, but after she left to get on the bus we snuck over and went on the carousel ride without her. It was Grant's birthday after all. :)
